Welcome to Cross Bayou Elementary. We’re so very glad you’re here. When you visit our campus, we hope you feel the pride, warmth, and friendliness. Listen for enthusiastic responses, laughter, praise and mutual respect. Watch for diverse students cooperating, interacting, reading, conferencing and actively learning. Look for inviting rooms, children’s work, books, computers and smiles. We hope you notice the positive friendly way the staff treats colleagues and students. We believe in modeling the character traits we teach.
Our experienced staff has served Cross Bayou for an average of 15 years. We are proud to have numerous Pinellas County award winning teachers and support staff as part of the Cross Bayou family. Many of our staff’s children and grandchildren attend or have attended CBE attesting to their belief in our integrity and competency.
•Cross Bayou is a 2006 National School of Character – one of only 10 in the nation and the only one in Florida! •We are a Center for Learning. Schools and teachers visit our classrooms to see best practices in action. •Our PTA and SAC are very active and supportive. •We have before and after-school care provided by R-Club. •Technology is an integral part of our school. Cross Bayou received a $1 million IDEA grant which was used for computers, software, sound fields in classrooms, telephone system for classrooms and a modern fire alarm system. Classroom computers are now provided by the district and refreshed every three years. •Each morning our students broadcast a live news program throughout the school. •Last year, staff members dedicated over 300 hours of volunteer service to mentor struggling students through our Bobcat Buddy program. 100% of our staff is involved in the community outside of school. •We have the Running Club, Happy Hands signing chorus, Braille Club, and Safety Patrol. •We utilize agenda books for daily communication with parents as well as communication folders, monthly newsletters for upcoming events and cafeteria menus, our web site (www.crossbayou-es.pinellas.k12.fl.us/) and Connect Ed telephone messages. •We’re here to answer your questions and assist you in any way we can. Please call 547-7834. Thanks for visiting.
